RECENT FUNDRAISING EVENTS
A new competition has begun! The Rochester Police Department's ITALEO (Italian Amerian Law Enforcement Officers) challenged The Rochester Police Department's Emerald Society (Irish Law Enforcement officers) to a friendly game of softball. Held on Sunday June 12th at Frontier Field, Although ITALEO took an early lead, The Emerald Society squeaked out a win! But the real winners of course were the kids hoping their dreams will come true. $3020 was donated by these two amazing groups of people!! We can't wait for next year's game, perhaps other teams would like to get in on the action?
The 2011 Buzz The Red White and Blue was a tremendous success once again! This year the weather was perfect, The music fantastic, the food delicious, the clown entertaining, and the 40 shavees- BALD! Best of all we told Ryan that his dream is coming true and he will soon be leaving on a Disney Cruise! Oh and the sahvees raised $17,000 with the Blue team once again winning the Golden Razor Award for the second year in a row!
What happens when you put two rival middle schools together to play a very fun but very competitive basketball game? If it's Willink Middle School and Spry Middle School in Webster NY, it can only mean one thing. A $7000 donation to The Dream Factory!
Marc Gillespie and Holly Reynolds of Fusion Financial and Forge Racing raised $3600 for The Dream Factory for competing in the General Clinton Canoe Regatta. A 70 mile canoe race down the Susquehanna River. Marc and Holly completed the race in just 7 hours and 37 minutes. They placed 15th overall!
5LINX, a telecommunications company here in Rochester has supported The Dream Factory in the past as sponsors of our golf tournament. On March 17th, The President and other top executives joined The Dream Factory at Woody's on Monroe to present us with a check for over $13,000! This is the largest single donation our local chapter has ever recieved. The volunteers and the children who are waiting to have their dreams fulfilled are incredibly thankful to all those at 5LINX who made this donation possible.
Woody's on Monroe hosted a Guest Bartender event- Over $1000 was raised. Nick Scharatta and Josh Whetzel from the Rochester Red Wings joined us as bartenders.
Willink Middle School vs Spry Middle School staff/student/faculty basketball game was a great success, again! The proceeds from both schools will be donated to The Dream Factory.
Klem South Elementary School in Webster had a gift and craft sale for the community. The children were selling smelly pencils (smencils) with the proceeds benefiting The Dream Factory. $300 was raised
Brighton High School hosted a wonderful craft and scrapbook event at the end of November. Many students made donations prior to the event, over 25 vendors and crafters presented wonderful gifts and items for purchase and a group of talented "scrapbookers and stampers" worked on some amazing projects.
On November 15th, a representative from Angelo Planning Group presented The Dream Factory with a check for $2500. These funds were raised during their 2010 golf outing.
Mommies for Miracles is a non profit organization dedicated to raising funds for other non profit organizations that provide items for children facing various challenges. Their 5th annual Wine and Beer Tasting and Auction event was held at Artisan Works on November 5th. The quality and quantity of food, wine, beer, and live and silent auction items was remarkable. But even more amazing than the event itself was the $8000 check which was presented to our organization. The Dream Factory is truly appreciative of the hard work Jill and her team put into creating a flawless event. Thank you so much to all those who organized, donated, and attended!
Our most delicious fundraising event was held on October 14th at Chocolate and Vines on University Avenue in Rochester. Guests were treated to unique cheeses and chocolates paired with wonderful wines. Just under one thousand dollars was raised thanks to our generous guests and fabulous hosts.
The Dream Factory's 5th annual golf tournament was a great success. We are honored to extend a sincere thank you to our 2 gold sponsors- Jason Manufacturing/RJW Enterprises and 5linx , our silver sponsor- ExxonMobil and with an honorary bronze sponsorship, Holiday Inn Airport . We had 118 registered golfers, amazing auction items and perfect weather. We also had Dick Cianciotto coordinating the entire event with skill and expertise. We raised over $11,000 and are truly appreciative to everyone. Join us again next year!!!
Rochester Automobile Dealers Association- What a pleasant surprise to open an envelope and find a check for $2000! Their charity gala and Auto Show was a big success and they chose to share the proceeds with us as well as the Rotary's Sunshine Camp.
LEAFF (Law Enforcement Assisting Fallen Families)- this group works hard to support the families of law enforcement officers who are killed "outside the line of duty". Thanks to their successful fishing derby, The Dream Factory received $500 as well!
Buzz The Red White and Blue- We didn't let a little rain stop us!!! Totally Tent and Party Rental just set us up with bigger tents! 11 shavers shaved 36 shavees and just over $20,000 was donated! The "Blue Team", law enforcement officers, won this year's competition and will have custody of the "Golden Razor Award" for the year.
Rochester Greek Festival- Philanthropy night at the Greek Festival is always popular. This year The Dream Factory was the honored charity and recipient of a $5000 donation! This one event will have a lasting effect because for future years, we will continue to receive $1000 at each Rochester Greek Festival. In addition to the $5000, we collected just over $1000 at the entrances and a portion of the food income. One night- $6000, many new community members knowing about our organization, some sponsors for our golf tournament, a few golfers, and a potential dream recipient, all in all, a fantastic event!
General Clinton Canoe Regatta- Marc Gillespie of Fusion Financial Group in Fairport, NY and his girlfriend, Holly Reynolds participate in a 70 mile flat water canoe regatta. This incredible feat of strength and endurance raises funds for The Dream Factory by reaching out to Marc and Holly's friends, families, and clients. This year Marc and his partner completed the race in just 8 hours and 27 minutes for a 12th place finish. Holly and her partner finished in 8 hours and 40 minutes for a 15th place finish. The next women's team to finish was nearly 45 minutes later. For The Dream Factory, we feel like we placed first with over $3500 donated.
Garage Sale- Thanks to everyone who stopped by to volunteer, bring their "stuff" and buy things. We made over $475.
Willink Middle School in Webster raised an incredible $2807 at their annual Spry vs Willink staff/students/faculty basketball game on May 7th! The gym was packed and the community spirit was high. It was amazing to be a part of this fantastic event!
Matthew's East End Grill was the place to be for "Have a Brew, Make A Dream Come True" . We tended the bar. You gave the tips and $1502.52 was donated! Thanks to everyone who attended, everyone who tended bar, and a special thanks to Carl and Joe. Visit them anytime for good food, good drinks, and good friends!
Angelo Planning Group organized two golf outings for their clients- $3000 was raised for The Dream Factory
Rochester's Saint's and Sinners, Inc. hosted a celebrity roast for Rich Funke of News 10NBC. Mr. Funke selected The Dream Factory to be the recipients of a portion of the proceeds from the event. As a result we just received a $2500 donation.
The Holiday Hootenanny began as a group of friends getting together around the Holidays. Now it become a major fundraising event for The Dream Factory- This year's donation was an amazing $3500! And the event itself- IT WAS A HOOT!
